When I started counselling I realized that children are so lost in Hanover Park. Many of them go through so much worse than what I went through as a child. So many of them are holding on to so much pain from their homes. And I’m just so happy that I’ve got the skills to help them where I can, to be there for them. And that I can show them that they have something special in them because someone saw something special in me.

Introduction
CASE is a non-profit organisation dealing with the problems related to community violence in a holistic way: addressing the consequences of violence as well as its root causes and aggravating factors.
Violence is perhaps the most damaging legacy of South Africa's political history. Socially sanctioned violence has filtered into the most private places - the home and the family. It is having a devastating impact on individuals, families, schools and neighbourhoods.
CASE has been working in the troubled area of Hanover Park for over 4 years. In this community: CASE Vision
In feeling safe and secure comes a new freedom for individuals - and we would like to see this freedom lived out as we learn to respect each otherÕs human rights. CASE Mission
CASE seeks to break the cycle of crime and violence in which young people live by equipping community members to recognise and respond appropriately to both the causes and effects of crime and violence in their communities. CASE Approach
The CASE holistic approach comprises two overlapping programmes:
1. Training and Personal Development Programme
2. Community Development Programme
